About Joe Wiebe

Joe Wiebe grew up in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, but has lived mainly on the West Coast since 1991 (except for an 18-month lapse of reason spent in Winnipeg). He has been based in Vancouver since 2001. As a freelance writer, Joe has written more than 100 articles for newspapers such as The Globe and Mail, Vancouver Sun, Ottawa Citizen, Victoria Times-Colonist, Edmonton Journal, and Georgia Straight. He received his MFA in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia in 2006.

Joe taught a freelance magazine writing course at the University of Western Ontario in May/June, 2006, and will be teaching it online again in January, 2007. He will also be teaching a Freelance Writing course at Douglas College (New Westminster, BC) from January to April, 2007. He is looking for a publisher for his baseball-themed novel, Mudville.

In addition to writing, Joe loves playing and watching sports, especially hockey, baseball and basketball, reading, playing guitar, travelling, drinking wine and beer, camping, cooking, and playing games of all sorts, especially Scrabble, Texas Hold'em and euchre.
